To restore the SharePoint site data

  1. Launch the Export Utility, click Start > Veritas Alta SaaS Protection > Export Utility.
  2. Click Next.
  3. Perform the following steps:

    Export Mode

    Do one of the following:

    • Select Admin.

    • Select the Discovery Case option to restore content from the Discovery case > select the required Discovery case from the Case dropdown list > from the Export From dropdown list, select the required Stor.

    Export From

    Do one of the following:

    • For Admin mode restore, select the Stor corresponds to required data.

On the Select a location window, select the Stor where the data is located. Browse the directory structure to locate the parent location whose children need to be restored. Select the parent location.

    • For Discovery case restore, select the required Stor.

    Export What

This option is not available for Discovery case restore.

You are required to define the scope of the restoration. Select one of the following options as required:

    • All Items: Used to restore all items from the specified location.

    • Specified Items: Used to select specific items to restore. Click Browse. On the Select items window, select the items to be restored and click OK.

    • Items meeting Metadata Filter: Used to add items based on the metadata.

      • Click Browse.

      • In the Configure metadata filter window, add filters as required, and click OK.

You can add any number of filters.

        • MetadataDateAge: Lets you specify date fields to leverage Older Than OR Younger Than criteria in Days or Months.

        • MetadataRange: Lets you specify date fields to include as a Range Start and Range End.

    • To restore a list along with its customization and child objects, select the list.

    • To restore a sub-site along with its customization and child objects, select the sub-site.

    • To restore a folder or item and its versions along with its metadata, select the folder or item.

    Export To

    • Select Single SharePoint Site Collection.

    • Click the hamburger icon.

    • On the Configure export destination window, do the following:

      • From the SharePoint Connection dropdown list, select the required connection.

If the location is unavailable, select <new>, and click the hamburger icon to create a new connection.

See Configure a SharePoint connection using the Basic authentication.

See Configure a SharePoint connection using the Modern/OAuth authentication.

See Configure a SharePoint connection using the App Registration authentication.

      • Enter the Destination Site Collection URL/OneDrive URL as required. It can be either the same or alternate site collection URL.

        Note:

When a site collection is selected to be restored from backup, if the site collection does not exist at the destination site collection URL, the restore process will create the site collection, other wise the restore process will try restore on top of the existing site collection.

      • Click Browse to select the location for restore.

The Destination Server Relative URLs auto-populate based selection or you can enter the required URLs manually.

      • Overwrite settings, columns, content types for site collections, sites, and lists:

This options are not available for Discover case restore.

The check box is not selected by default. By default, the restore process includes the restoration of missing columns and content types but does not restore existing settings, columns, and content types.

If the check box is selected, the restore operation overwrites the existing settings, columns, and content types for an already existing list or site.

      • Restore permissions: The check box is not selected by default.

This options are not available for Discover case restore.

      • Select the Restore All Versions check box to restore all the versions on the destination.

This options are not available for Discover case restore.

      • Select suitable versioned document overwrite behavior.

This options are not available for Discover case restore.

      • Click OK.

      • Applicable for Discovery case restore:

Select the Create Folder Structure At Destination check box to create the folder structure as per the source.

Select the Consolidate Versions in Folder check box to restore the versions of the files in a one folder. This option is available only if the Create Folder Structure At Destination check box is not selected.

    Restore Type

This options are not available for Discover case restore.

Select the default that is Original Item.

    Force Overwrite

This options are not available for Discover case restore.

Select the check box to overwrite items on the destination.

    Admin Export Mode

This options are not available for Discover case restore.

    • All: Used to restore the latest version for all items.

    • All (Point-In-Time): Used to restore the most recent versions of the items before the specified point-in-time. Enter the date and time in the UTC time zone.

    • Specific Range: Used to restore the items that exist between the specified start and end dates. Enter the date and time in the UTC time zone.

    Force Overwrite

This options are not available for Discover case restore.

Select the check box to enable this option if you want to overwrite the existing files at the destination.

    Advanced settings

The Advanced settings options will vary based on the Export mode selected for restore that is Admin or Discovery case.

    • Include Manifests: If the check box is selected, an XML manifest will be created for each file in the directory. If Veritas Alta SaaS Protection has the file or stub in the cloud, but a manifest is not present in the directory for the file or stub, then one will be created.

    • Restore ACLs: This option does not have any effect for SharePoint.

    • Force Overwrite: If the check box is selected, instead of a merge, any file already in the directory that also has a file or stub in the restore or recovery scope will be replaced. This option can lead to data loss as it will remove content in the destination that may not yet be captured into Veritas Alta SaaS Protection as a new item version.

    • Enhanced Metadata Restore: If the check box is selected, the restored last-modified dates are accurate to the second. This option is resource-intensive. If the check box is not selected, the restored last-modified dates are accurate to the minute.

    • Create Copy: If this check box is selected and the file exists in the destination folder, it will be restored and appear as a copy. For example, test(1).txt

    • Metadata Export: Select one of the following options from the dropdown list:

      • HSMetadataXml: Metadata is restored per item. In each directory where items are restored, an accompanying file named [filename.ext].hsmetadata.xml] is added that contains any additional metadata for that item.

      • CSV: Metadata is restored per directory. In each directory where items are restored, an accompanying file named hsmetadata.csv is added that contains any additional metadata for all restored items.

Select the Export non-DB Medatadata Fields option to restore all properties of the item.

    • Prune Empty Folders: If the check box is selected, empty folders are not created during the restore.

    • Remove Linked-Based Stubs: This option only applies to files being recovered to a File server. If the check box is selected, any restored file with a Linked-Based stub file in the directory will have the Linked-Based stub removed when the original file is restored. This setting is only needed when Linked-Based stubs exist.

    • Remove Html Stubs: This option only applies to files being recovered to a File server. If the check box is selected, any file that is restored and has an HTML stub file in the directory will have the HTML stub removed when the original file is restored. This setting is only needed when HTML stubs exist.

    • Suppress 'Removed From Source' Content: The check box is selected by default. Contact the Veritas Support team if want to change the configuration.

It does not restore the data that has been deleted from the source.

    • Remove Offline Attribute from Non-Stubs: This will find any files that are offline but not reparse points and remove the offline attribute. This is useful when certain applications trigger a restore but the offline attribute is not removed.

  4. Click OK.
  5. Click Run Export.
