Standard guidelines for Export Utility
The following are the guidelines for efficient data restores using the Export Utility:
Use a VM in the same region as Veritas Alta SaaS Protection storage.
To ensure faster restore times, the restore process should be performed from the Export Utility VM that is hosted in the same region as the Veritas Alta SaaS Protection storage.
Resource scaling for large data restores
Restoring large data sets places a significant load on the storage database and web services. In such cases, it may be necessary to scale the storage infrastructure to a higher tier to meet resource requirements. Note that this scaling will incur additional costs. For consumption-based and self-hosted customer's these costs will be billed to the customer, and if the customer is fully managed and has a fixed price, Veritas will scale up the resources post required approvals in place.
Phased restores
To minimize the risk of failures, initiate restores in phases by breaking the data into smaller sets. For example, select up to 10 mailboxes per restore for Exchange Online, or 50 sites per restore for SharePoint data, based on the average size of mailboxes or sites. Customers can verify the mailbox or the site size information in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center to plan accordingly.
Date range selection
The Export Utility allows customers to specify a date range for the data restore, enabling more targeted restores.
