Backing up vault store partitions

While vault store partitions are in backup mode, Enterprise Vault cannot add new items to users' archives. However, users can search their archives and retrieve items. If you have enabled manual archiving, or you are running PST migrations, you must clear backup mode from the Enterprise Vault vault stores before the Exchange core hours begin, so your backups must complete within the Enterprise Vault backup window.

For daily backups, you should back up all the open vault store partitions, because open partitions are likely to change on a daily basis.

For weekly backups, you should refresh your backup of closed vault store partitions to ensure that you have a permanent backup of any newly closed partitions.
