Challenge
Data growth increased backup time. BI and other tools could not be used until the backup process was completed, disrupting business operations.
Solution
JFE deployed Veritas NetBackup and uses incremental-forever backup as well as deduplication.
Outcome
Initial full backup of virtual environment took 40% less time than in previous physical environment; subsequent incremental backups now take only 35 minutes. Backups no longer threaten BI availability; the servers can be centrally managed; and JFE can confidently support new data-intensive BI initiatives.
