How to run a repair installation of Veritas Backup Exec

If the Backup Exec files or registry keys are missing or corrupted, they can be repaired by running the Backup Exec installation program and selecting the Repair option. The Repair option re-runs the installation program by stopping all the Backup Exec services, fixing the missing files and registry keys and then starts all Backup Exec services. The database will not be reinstalled during this process.

Note:  Any changes made to Backup Exec program files and registry keys will be reset to the original settings.

To repair Backup Exec:

1.  Close the Backup Exec application.

2.  From Windows Control Panel, double-click Programs and Features .

3.  Select Veritas Backup Exec (TM)

 

4.  From the options given above, choose Change or Right click Veritas Backup Exec and choose Change.

5.  Select the Local Install and Repair options and then click Next.

 

 

6. Choose Language if any additional language has to be selected. Else click Next.

 

 

7. Click Install on the Installation Review Page. 

 

When you click on Install on the above page, it may prompt for the Backup Exec installation media. Mount the ISO of Backup Exec DVD of the same version, and Type the Drive letter of the mounted DVD and click OK.

 

 

8.  Once the wizard completes, click Finish
