Most utility jobs can be scheduled in Backup Exec for Windows Servers.

Utility jobs that can be scheduled include:

 
  • Inventory robotic library or device
  • Erase media in a Backup to Disk Folder or standalone drive or Robotic Library
  • Import Media
  • Export Media
  • Lock robotic library
  • Unlock robotic library
  • Clean drive

Utility jobs that cannot be scheduled include:
 
  • Catalog
  • Label Media
  • Format Media
  • Retention Media (option is available as part of a backup job properties)
  • Eject Media (option is available as part of a backup job properties)
  • Scan robotic library
  • Initialize robotic library

In the example below, an inventory is being scheduled for a future time to run.

To perform this operation:

1. From the navigation bar, under  Storage tab select the tape device, on which the Inventory operation has to be performed (Figure 1)

2. Right Click on the Drive and Click on the   Inventory Schedule operation which will display the  Storage tab window (Figure 1)
 

 
3. With Schedule selected from the left pane, the job can either be scheduled to run at a later date by selecting the Recurrenct to set the schedule of the Inventory to run or run as a Run now with no recuring schedule (Figure 2)

4. Click Edit Schedule Details for other Run according to schedule options (Figure 2), the job can be assigned to run a certain time of day and recur at that same time everyday (Figure 2). Click OK to confirm the schedule.


 
5. Once the correct schedule has been assigned the submitted job witll show up on the device details.

  
 
6. The scheduled job may be viewed in Job Monitor (Figure 3).
