LUNs (Logical Unit Number) with addresses higher than 8000 are detected as "missing" when EMC DMX microcode 5x71 is installed on a disk array that presents disks to Veritas Storage Foundation for Windows

Problem

If EMC microcode 5x71 is present, Storage Foundation for Windows (SFW) may incorrectly detect LUNs as EMC gate keeper devices instead of disks. In these cases, the affected LUNs will have addresses greater than 8000. This may cause VEA to list disks as "missing" if they have been included in Disk Groups; or not to be viewable at all if they are basic disks.

Solution

This fix for this issue is included in SFW 4.3 MP2 (Maintenance Pack 2).

As a workaround, it is possible to remove the mask from GateKeeper devices.  Please see the Related articles for details.
