Creating a custom checkpoint on the Velocity physical appliance
You can create a custom checkpoint that saves a snapshot of the current state of the appliance. You can use the checkpoint in the future to restore the appliance configuration and settings to the point in time when the checkpoint was created.
Note:
Only one custom checkpoint can exist on the appliance at any given time. If you choose to create a new custom checkpoint, it will overwrite the existing custom checkpoint.
To create a user-directed appliance checkpoint
- Log on to the Velocity shell menu.
- Run the following command:
Support > Checkpoint Create
The appliance searches for existing checkpoints. If any existing checkpoints are found, they get listed for review as follows:
The following checkpoint was found: -------------------------------------------------------------- Checkpoint type: User-directed Date created: Mon 23 May 2016 01:54:57 PM PDT Description: My Custom Checkpoint --------------------------------------------------------------
- When prompted to create a new checkpoint, type yes and press Enter.
>> No custom checkpoints were found. Do you want to create one? [yes, no](no) yes
If an existing checkpoint was found:
>> Only one custom user-directed checkpoint can be stored at a time. Do you want to overwrite the existing checkpoint with a new one? [yes, no](no) yes
- Enter a description for the checkpoint.
>> Enter a checkpoint description (optional): My Custom Checkpoint
- When prompted to start the checkpoint creation, type yes and press Enter.
>> Ready to create checkpoint. Do you want to proceed? [yes, no](no) yes - [Info] Creating appliance checkpoint. This process can take up to 15 minutes... - [Info] Appliance checkpoint creation was successful.
