Changing user passwords on the Velocity physical appliance

Use the Velocity shell menu to change an appliance user's password.

Warning:

The admin account ships on new appliances with a known default password. Veritas recommends that you change this password as soon as possible.

To change an appliance user password

  1. Log on to the Velocity shell menu.
  2. From the Main_Menu > Settings > Security > Authentication > LocalUser view, type the following command:

    Password

    Enter the existing password and then enter the new password.

  3. (Optional) If you log on to the appliance as admin, you can change another user's password using the following command:

    Password <username>

    Where <username> is the name of the user account who's password you want to change.

    Enter and then confirm the new password.

    Note:

    You can use the Users List command to show all of the appliance user accounts.
