Glossary terms for Velocity
The following terms are used in Velocity.
Table: Terms and definitions
Term | Definition |
---|---|
Backup destination | The location on the Velocity Storage Server to store a backup of each database that is ingested into Velocity. |
Copy preparation | A Velocity feature that lets you prepare an Oracle database copy for data masking, sanitizing, or any other data manipulation methods before sandbox users can access the database copies. |
Database copy | A duplicate of data. |
Database source | A database that is configured for ingesting into Velocity. After a database source is ingested, it is available as a database copy for users to select to provision a sandbox. |
Host | A server that contains the software required to work with a database. A host is a database server with all of the necessary database software installed on it. |
Ingestion | The process of obtaining, importing, and processing data for later use or storage. |
Sandbox | A test environment that is available to a user. The sandbox data is a copy of a database that has been ingested into Velocity. |
