About NetBackup Virtual Appliance CloudCatalyst
The NetBackup Virtual Appliance CloudCatalyst is a customized media server configuration that specifically supports NetBackup CloudCatalyst deduplication in a virtual environment. It provides a lower-cost alternative to the existing NetBackup 5340 CloudCatalyst Appiance.
When you perform the initial configuration on the appliance, specify the associated master server:
CloudCatalyst uses MSDP deduplication technology to upload deduplicated data to the cloud. The data is uploaded by the CloudCatalyst-enabled MSDP cloud storage server, which first stores data in a local cache before uploading it to cloud storage. A single NetBackup Virtual Appliance CloudCatalyst Appliance supports a cloud storage bucket of up to 1 Petabyte in size.
See the NetBackup Deduplication Guide for CloudCatalyst configuration, administration, and troubleshooting information.
