About NetBackup Virtual Appliance Cloud Catalyst
The NetBackup Virtual Appliance Cloud Catalyst is a customized media server configuration that specifically supports NetBackup Cloud Catalyst deduplication in a virtual environment. It provides a lower-cost alternative to the existing NetBackup 5240 Cloud Catalyst Appiance.
The appliance works with the following types of master servers:
A traditional NetBackup master server
A NetBackup physical appliance master server
A NetBackup Virtual Appliance master server
Cloud Catalyst uses MSDP deduplication technology to upload deduplicated data to the cloud. The data is uploaded by the Cloud Catalyst-enabled MSDP cloud storage server, which first stores data in a local cache before uploading it to cloud storage. A single NetBackup Virtual Appliance Cloud Catalyst Appliance supports a cloud storage bucket of up to 1 Petabyte in size.
See the NetBackup Deduplication Guide for Cloud Catalyst configuration, administration, and troubleshooting information.
