About the Veritas Access 3340 Appliance

Veritas Access in an appliance form factor is introduced in this release. You can use the Veritas Access 3340 Appliance for long-term retention (LTR) of backup images.

The Veritas Access 3340 Appliance provides a cost-effective, performant, scalable, and highly available storage for storing data and retaining it for the compliance policies.

Note:

The Veritas Access 7.3.2 release is not a stand-alone Access release but an appliance-oriented release. You can find all documentation related to the Veritas Access 3340 Appliance on the SORT site:

Supplemental Content - https://sort.veritas.com/documents/doc_details/AAPP/7.3.2/Appliance%203340/SupplementalContent/

You can set up the Veritas Access 3340 Appliance by performing the following steps:

  • Configure storage

  • Configure an S3 server

  • Activate an LTR policy

  • Generate S3 keys

  • Provision storage

Note:

It is recommended on the Veritas Access 3340 Appliance to not use any policies except the LTR policies. All non-LTR policies use striped-mirror or mirror, which is not recommended on the Veritas Access 3340 Appliance because it already uses RAID-6 to protect the data. Using these policies will result in using twice the capacity to store the same amount of data. As a workaround you can manually create basic file systems in the UI (selecting file system instead of policy) or use the CLISH for full access to all options for all use cases including adding replication, configuring Scale-Out Filesystem, etc.

The LTR policies use simple as the default file system type (can be seen in Settings > S3 Management > default parameters for S3 buckets > File System type.
