Additional actions after failover for Skype for Business Archiving
On each Enterprise Vault server that is configured for Skype for Business Archiving, a local SMTP holding folder is configured for the SMTP Archiving task.
Note:
Skype for Business Archiving uses the SMTP Archiving task, but the Enterprise Vault SMTP Server is not required.
After you run Update Service Locations, you need to ensure that the SMTP Archiving task on the failover server can access the correct SMTP holding folder location. Take the following actions:
If the holding folder is on a movable disk, then move the disk to the failover server.
If the holding folder is not on a movable disk, then copy the SMTP holding folder tree from the original server to the failover server.
On the failover server, open the properties of the SMTP Archiving task and change the location of the holding folder to the new location.
Restart the SMTP Archiving task.
Enterprise Vault uses the user account that is specified on the Skype for Business target properties in the Administration Console to access the computer that is running Skype for Business Server. When the failover occurs, Enterprise Vault uses the same user account on the new server to access Skype for Business. This user account therefore requires the appropriate permissions, which are as follows:
Membership of the local Administrators group.
The Log On As a Service right.
Full access to the SMTP holding folder.
Membership of the domain\RTCComponentUniversalServices and domain\RTCUniversalReadOnlyAdmins Skype for Business Active Directory groups.
You must assign these permissions manually. If you do not assign the appropriate permissions, Skype for Business Archiving stops.
Note:
After you have granted the permissions to the user account, restart the Task Controller service on this server.
If an SMTP Archiving task is running on both the original server and the failover server in a building blocks environment, then both SMTP Archiving tasks are hosted on the failover server after you run Update Service Locations. Enterprise Vault continues to process conversations from the Skype for Business target, and the SMTP Archiving task that failed over from the original server continues to archive the conversation files from its configured holding folder.
