Connecting one D Series storage shelf to an appliance

Note:

The cables in the illustrations in the following sections are shown in different colors for demonstration purposes only. The actual cables are black.

Note:

The orientation of the blue tabs on the ends of the SAS-3 cables is important. In the appliance, the blue tabs on each SAS-3 connector must face down. In the storage shelves, blue tabs of the SAS-3 connectors inserted must face up.

To connect one storage shelf to the appliance

  1. Connect a SAS-3 cable to the left RAID port in the appliance.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable to port 1 in the top I/O module of the storage shelf.
  3. Attach another SAS-3 cable between port 1 on the bottom I/O module and the right port on the appliance RAID card.

Next, connect network and power cables. Turn on the storage shelves and the appliance per the required sequence. Verify that all units function correctly.
