About restores from NAS-Data-Protection policy
Using the Backup, Archive, and Restore interface, you can restore individual directories or files (or an entire NAS volume) from a DNAS backup. The procedure is the same as that for restoring from a regular backup as described in the NetBackup Backup, Archive, and Restore Getting Started Guide.
Types of restore:
Point in Time Rollback (PIT): Supported only for the NAS array vendors that provides PIT rollback capability.
Restore using snapshot image: Restore data at alternate location on any supported file system and a connected NetBackup host.
Restore using backup image: You can restore data at alternate location on any supported file system and a connected NetBackup host.
Note the following important points for restore:
Original location restore is not supported for NAS-Data-Protection policy. We only support restore to alternate location. As the policy does not require the volumes to be mounted on any client as a pre-requisite, there might not be any original location. If you want to restore to the original volume, you can mount the original volume on a NetBackup host and then specify that volume at the time of restore.
The destination client for restore must be a NetBackup host.
If you select either of the following rename options, ensure that you change the destination path:
