Adding an Oracle database source to automatically ingest NetBackup deduplicated backups
Before adding a database source, be sure that all of the setup steps are completed for automatically ingesting NetBackup deduplicated backups.
See How to set up automatic ingestion of NetBackup deduplicated backups.
To add an Oracle database source to automatically ingest NetBackup deduplicated backups
- From the Velocity Console, in the left pane, click Database Sources.
- On the Database Sources window, click +, and then click Add Database to Ingest.
- Select Ingest Oracle, and then select Use NetBackup.
- Click Next.
- Under NetBackup Ingestion Method, select From NetBackup OST.
- In Host, enter the hostname or IP address of the Oracle database server that you want to add to Velocity.
Note:
Ensure that you use the same format that NetBackup uses. For example, if NetBackup uses the IP address, you must use the IP address here. Otherwise, the database source creation may fail.
- Click + to add the server name or IP address to the Added Hosts list.
- In Database Name, type the name of the Oracle database that you want to add to Velocity as a source.
Note:
The database name must start with a letter, can contain only letters, numbers, underscores (_), number signs (#), and dollar signs ($), and cannot exceed 30 characters. Refer to your Oracle documentation for other database name requirements.
- (Optional) For the option Enable Copy Preparation, click Yes if you want to change data in a database before users can access the database copies from their sandboxes.
- (Optional) In User-friendly Name, type a memorable name for the database.
- (Optional) In Description, type a meaningful description of the Oracle database.
- In NetBackup Master Server Name, type the hostname or IP address of your NetBackup master server.
- In NetBackup Policy Name, type the name of the NetBackup policy that you created for data ingestion.
Note:
The policy name is case-sensitive. Ensure that you use the same capitalization that NetBackup uses. Otherwise, the database source creation may fail.
- Click Next.
- Review the settings that you selected, and then click Save.
