About reclaiming storage space on the Veritas Velocity Storage Server
You can reclaim some storage space on the Velocity Storage Server by doing the following:
Deleting database sources.
Deleting database copies.
Setting the retention period to delete database copies.
Asking users to delete their sandboxes that they no longer need.
After you delete a database copy, and after users delete their sandboxes that used the database copy, some storage space is reclaimed on the Velocity Storage Server. Because Velocity uses deduplication to store the database copies, only some of the storage space on which the data segments reside is reclaimed. That is, if other database copies or other sandboxes require the same data segment, the segment is not deleted. Therefore, if the deduplication ratio is high, only some storage space may be reclaimed when you delete a database copy.
