Configuring an episodic replication job using the GUI
Create a collection of all the directories and the files within a file system that you want to replicate into a replication unit. Select a replication link and create a schedule for replicating the data at specific intervals or sync the data on demand. A replication job includes replication units and the replication job has a schedule.
To configure a replication job
- Prerequisites:
Set up a virtual IP address between the source and the destination cluster.
Create a replication link.
- Click File Systems, and select a file system for which you want to run replication.
- Click Replication > Configure Replication Job.
- Step through the Configure Replication Job wizard tasks.
- View the Recent Activity panel for the status of the task.
To create a replication link
- Prerequisites:
Create the replication VIP.
- Create the replication link between the source and the destination clusters.
- Enter the source and the destination cluster details.
Link Name
Enter the link name for the source and the destination clusters.
Cluster Name
Enter the cluster IP address for the destination cluster, the primary console IP where you installed Access Appliance.
Username
Enter the username for the destination cluster. To authenticate a different cluster for replication, you must provide the "primary" user credentials.
Password
Enter the password for the destination cluster.
- View the Recent Activity panel for the status of the task.
To set up a replication virtual IP
- Set up a dedicated virtual IP address between the source and the destination cluster.
If you have already set up a virtual IP address, this field is not enabled.
Enter a unique virtual IP address.
- View the Recent Activity panel for the status of the task.
From the Settings > Replication Management page, you can view the following information about replication:
Replication VIP | Dedicated virtual IP address for the replication service. The replication services requires VIP addresses not already in use for the two clusters to communicate. |
VIP Status | Status of the virtual IP address, ONLINE, or OFFLINE. |
Replication Device | Device used by the replication service. |
Online on Node | Cluster node on which the replication service is currently running. |
Node DB Status | Status of the replication database, ONLINE, or OFFLINE. |
Daemon Status | Status of the daemon, ONLINE, or OFFLINE. |
Service Status | Status of the replication service. |
To delete a replication link
- Select the replication link that you want to delete.
- Click the ellipsis beside the replication link and click Remove Link.
- Enter the username and password for the source and destination clusters.
- View the Recent Activity panel for the status of the task to delete the replication link.
To modify a replication unit
- Prerequisites:
Create a replication VIP.
Create a replication link.
Configure a replication job.
Set a replication schedule.
- File Systems: Select the file system for which you want to modify the replication unit.
- Click the Replication tab.
- Click on the Modify Replication Unit button.
- Follow the prompts and click Add.
- View the Recent Activity panel for the status of the task.
To delete a replication virtual IP
- Prerequisites:
Delete the replication job.
Delete the replication link.
- Settings > Replication Management: Click Delete Replication VIP.
- Confirm that you want to delete the replication VIP.
- View the Recent Activity panel for the status of the task.
Access Appliance supports periodic replication, where the data gets replicated from the source to the destination cluster at regular intervals as defined by the replication schedule.
To set a replication schedule
- Prerequisites:
Set up a virtual IP address between the source and the destination cluster.
Create a replication link.
Configure a replication job.
Select a replication link.
- Click File Systems, and select a file system for which you want to run replication.
- Click Replication > Configure Replication Job.
- Step through the Configure Replication Job wizard tasks to Set Schedule.
- Specify the recurrence pattern and how often the replication job should recur.
- Click Set Schedule.
- View the Recent Activity panel for the status of the task.
To modify a replication schedule
- Prerequisites:
- Set up a replication schedule.
- Click Edit Replication Schedule and update the appropriate options.
