Changing the number of simultaneous target volume scans
FSA Reporting scans a maximum of five target volumes simultaneously, by default. You can reduce this number by changing the ScanThreads registry value. For example, if more than three volumes are enabled for FSA Reporting and you set ScanThreads to
, only three volumes are scanned initially. FSA Reporting does not start to scan another volume until the scan completes on one of the three initial volumes.By reducing the value of ScanThreads you reduce the resource demand, although you extend the time for multiple FSA Reporting scans to complete.
To change the number of simultaneous target volume scans
- For a Windows file server, start the registry editor on the file server.
For a NetApp or Celerra file server, start the registry editor on the FSA Reporting proxy server. You can identify the FSA Reporting proxy server by viewing the properties of the file server in the Administration Console. The FSA Reporting proxy server is shown on the Reporting Data Collection tab.
- Go to the following registry key:
On a 32-bit installation of Windows:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \SOFTWARE \KVS \Enterprise Vault \FSA \Reporting
On a 64-bit installation of Windows:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \SOFTWARE \Wow6432Node \KVS \Enterprise Vault \FSA \Reporting
- Change the value of the DWORD registry value ScanThreads. This value sets the maximum number of simultaneous target volume scans. The default value of ScanThreads is 5, and the maximum value is 10.
- Exit from the registry editor.
- For Windows file servers, restart the Enterprise Vault File Collector Service on the file server.
For non-Windows file servers that use an Enterprise Vault server as the FSA Reporting proxy server, restart the Enterprise Vault Admin service on the Enterprise Vault server that acts as the FSA Reporting proxy server.
For non-Windows file servers that do not use an Enterprise Vault server as the FSA Reporting proxy server, restart the Enterprise Vault File Collector Service on the FSA Reporting proxy server.
