Updating firmware on NetBackup appliances

Use the following procedure to update the firmware on NetBackup appliances version 4.1 or later. On appliances earlier than 4.1, you can install the firmware update as an EEB. See Installing add-ons.

Firmware updates are not currently supported on Flex appliances from the Appliance Management Console.

To update the firmware on NetBackup appliances version 4.1 and later

  1. Download the firmware update tool for the NetBackup Appliance version that you want to update and add it to the AMS repository. See About managing the repository.
  2. On the Home page, select the appliances that you want to update. All selected appliances must use the same software version. After you complete the appliance selections, click Manage > Firmware update.
  3. Confirm the appliance selections and click Next.
  4. Select the appropriate update package and click Next.
  5. Confirm the appliances and the update package, then click Install. You can monitor the progress from the Activity Monitor.
