Use this command to create a new standard share, optimized share, optimized share reserve, or CDP Gateway.
SYNOPSIS
Create CDPGateway
Create Share Standard
Create Share Optimized
Create OptimizedShareReserve
DESCRIPTION
The Create command lets you create the following storage partitions:
CDP Gateway
Standard Share
Optimized Share
Optimized Share Reserve
Starting with NetBackup Appliance release 5.1.1, the Copilot feature supports clients with IPv6 addresses to access Standard and Optimized shares. All IPv6 addresses must resolve to a valid hostname. If you enter a hostname format, the hostname must resolve to an IP address (IPv4 or IPv6) that is pingable. If the hostname can resolve to both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, the IPv4 address has the priority.
OPTIONS
- Create CDPGateway
Use this command to create a CDP gateway storage partition on the appliance. A CDP gateway lets you rapidly make copies of backups for VMware virtual machines (VMs), without stunning the VMs. With a CDP gateway, you can make recent copies of backups and use NetBackup to retain and restore the backups as required.
Note the following about CDP gateway partition creation:
After you select the partition size, the process searches for a single empty disk to use for the partition. CDP functionality works best when the partition resides on a single disk.
If an empty disk is not available, it is highly recommended that you add a new empty disk or clean an existing disk and use it for the partition.
If an empty disk is not available, you can choose to create the partition with the free space of one or more available disks. However, this type of partition creation can affect the performance of other related storage operations because the CDP service uses larger amounts of memory and IO flow. When you are prompted to create the partition in this manner, it is recommended that you respond by entering
. Then add a new empty disk or clean an existing disk and use it for the partition.
After you have created the CDP gateway partition on the appliance, you must log in to the NetBackup primary server to configure and enable the CDP gateway feature. For complete details, see the NetBackup Web UI VMware Administrator's Guide.
- Create Share Standard
Use this command to create a standard share. Enter a comma-separated list of Oracle server clients that you want to access this share. A wizard guides you through the creation process.
- Create Share Optimized
Use this command to create an optimized share. Enter a comma-separated list of Oracle server clients that you want to access this share. A wizard guides you through the creation process.
Note:
If you have not created the optimized share reserve, the command prompts you to create it before you create the first optimized share.
- Create OptimizedShareReserve
Use this command to create the optimized share reserve.
