Installing maintenance release and security patch packages on NetBackup appliances

The Maintenance Release page lets you install maintenance releases and security patches on multiple appliances, simultaneously.

To install a maintenance release or a security patch

  1. Verify that the package and the Appliance Upgrade Readiness Analyzer are located in the repository. The package and the Appliance Upgrade Readiness Analyzer should have the same prefix name.
  2. On the Home page, select the appliances that you want to install. All selected appliances must use the same software version. After completing the appliance selections, click Manage > Maintenance Release.
  3. Review and verify the displayed information for the appliances that you selected on the Home page. If the list is correct, click Next.

To make any changes, go back to the Home page and make them. Return to this page to verify your selections and click Next.

  4. Select the package and Click Install. You are redirected to the Activity Monitor Page.

    Note:

Only one package can be selected.

  5. On the Activity monitor page, expand the row of an appliance to observe the step by step progress of the installation progress.

The state appears as Successful when the process completes.

Limitations
  • A maintenance release package cannot be applied to the AMS appliance itself.

  • The agent version of an appliance must also be upgraded to 1.4.1, otherwise, the following error is displayed on the Activity Monitor after the installation process is initiated:

V-409-919-1802: The node-update task is not supported for this
appliance configuration. This problem could be related to older agent
version. Review the AMS documentation to find out minimum requirements
for node-update task. Error: Playbook not defined.
