Prerequisites for installing Veritas Replication VIB
Before you run the wizard to install Veritas Replication VIB, ensure that the following prerequisites are met.
Ensure that the IMS is accessible from the vCenter server.
Ensure that the vCenter server version is 6.0 U2 or later. Each host in the source data center and the target data center must run ESXi version 6.0 U2 or later.
Check the acceptance level on every host in the source data center and the target data center. Ensure that the acceptance level of the host system is not set to VMwareCertified. The allowed acceptance levels are VMwareAccepted, PartnerSupported, or CommunitySupported.
By default the acceptance level of the ESX host is set to PartnerSupported.
Ensure that you install VIB only on a multiple-node ESXi cluster. In a multiple-node ESXi cluster, ensure to enable the automatic mode for DRS. In case of an upgrade or uninstallation of Veritas Replication VIB, this ensures evacuation of the host by migrating the virtual machines to other hosts in the cluster.
You can also run scripts to check if the prerequisites are met.
To run the scripts to check if the prerequisites for installing the Veritas Replication VIB are met
- Download the
Veritas_Resiliency_Platform_Deployment_Tools_3.4.0.0_IE.zip
file from the MyVeritas portal or trialware. - Unzip the files to a location on your local system. Following files are available in the
Veritas_Replication_VIB
folder:Script for Windows vCenter server:
check_vcenter.ps1
Script for Linux vCenter server:
check_vcenter.sh
Script for ESXi hosts:
check_esx.sh
Text file:
readme.txt
- Run the scripts as described in the
readme.txt
file:For a Windows vCenter server environment, you need to run the following scripts:
check_vcenter.ps1
andcheck_esx.sh
For a Linux vCenter server environment, you need to run the following scripts:
check_vcenter.sh
andcheck_esx.sh
