Verifying the replication status for Veritas Resiliency Platform Data Mover
After configuring for disaster recovery using Veritas Resiliency Platform Data Mover, the Data Mover starts replicating the virtual machines which are already powered on or once they are powered on. The replication process begins with a full synchronization of the protected virtual machines data from source data center to the target data center. To view the status of replication for a resiliency group, navigate to resiliency group details page.
See Viewing resiliency group details.
The Data Mover replication state is represented as combination of replication state and data state. The state outside parenthesis denotes replication state whereas the data mover connection status and data state are within the parenthesis. The table describes the function of each state.
Table: Replication states
State | Type | Description |
---|---|---|
Replication State | Active or Inactive Syncing | Active or Inactive are the replication states on the target data center. Syncing state represents that data is in consistent state and transfer is in full synchronization mode. |
Data Mover connection status | Connected or Disconnected | Whether the Resiliency Platform Data Mover appliances on the source and recovery data centres are connected. |
Data state | Consistent or Inconsistent | Data state on the target data center. |
Based on the Resiliency Platform replication states, note that some disaster recovery operations are restricted:
Migrate operation: Is allowed when Data Mover Connection Status is Connected and Data State is Consistent , and Replication State is Active.
Takeover operation: Is allowed as long as data state is Consistent irrespective of the replication state or Data Mover connection status.
Rehearsal operation: Is allowed when Data Mover connection status is Connected and data state is Consistent.
Resync and Rehearsal Cleanup operations: Is allowed with all states.
To verify the replication status for Veritas Resiliency Platform Data Mover
- Navigate to Assets (navigation pane) Resiliency Group(s) tab.
- Double-click the resiliency group for which disaster recovery is configured using Resiliency Platform Data Mover.
- View the replication state at Replication > State.
