About hotfixes
Hotfixes are small, targeted updates to the Veritas Resiliency Platform. They are generally released to address a specific issue in the product. They can be released at any time and aren't bound to the release schedule of the Veritas Resiliency Platform.
In Veritas Resiliency Platform 3.3.2, you can apply hotfixes to Veritas Resiliency Platform virtual appliance.
Following are some considerations for applying hotfixes to the Resiliency Platform components:
You can identify the hotfix using the last bit of the version. For example, 3.3.2.1 would be a hotfix on the 3.3.2.0 base release.
A hotfix applies to a single appliance. A hotfix for the Resiliency Manager would not be applicable to the Infrastructure Management Server and vice versa.
Each hotfix is intended to target a specific issue. As such, hotfixes are not fully cumulative in nature. You can have multiple hotfixes installed at the same time on a given base release version.
Only hotfixes addressing issues in the same functional area are cumulative. A given hotfix includes all previous hotfixes that affect areas common to its targeted issue.
You can roll back the latest hotfix version that is installed. You cannot roll back older hotfixes but can remove all hotfixes and go back to the base release at any time.
While applying hotfixes, ensure that the virtual appliance remains powered on. Restarting the appliance during the process may adversely affect the functionality and the virtual appliance may go into an irrecoverable condition.
In general, you can apply a hotfix at any time. It does not affect the functionality of the appliances. There may be a momentary interruption in some services. Confirmation for the same is taken during install or uninstall of hotfix.
While applying hotfix some services are required to be restarted which are listed during hotfix application process. Make sure that no operation which is dependent on these services are running, before applying or removing the hotfix.
