To connect additional shelves to an appliance that already has three operating shelf

  1. Remove and reconnect the SAS-3 cables to the correct I/O module ports as shown in the figure. Use the two new SAS-3 cables that ship with each storage shelf.
  2. Connect power cords between the new storage shelves and separate Power Distribution Units (PDUs) in the rack.
  3. Turn on the storage shelf that is farthest from the appliance. Let the shelf initialize for a few minutes.
  4. Turn on the other storage shelves, in sequence. Do not turn on all of the shelves at once.
  5. Verify that the new shelves function correctly.
