Challenge
To improve efficiency, Bakwena decided to move from tape-based data protection to backups stored in a virtual environment. They attempted to implement a third-party solution specializing in protection of virtual data, but it did not not work properly.
Solution
After a successful proof of concept, Bakwena engaged Veritas Professional Services to deploy a Veritas NetBackup™ Appliance in their primary data center. For secondary backups, the appliance replicates to a NetBackup instance running on third-party hardware in the corporate DR site.
Outcome
Bakwena now has a reliable, fully functional backup and recovery process that is also much faster than the legacy tape-based environment.
