Reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

We collect GHG emissions data in each fiscal year, using FY2019 as our baseline year and measuring Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.

Approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), our four emissions-reduction targets position us as a corporate leader in the low-carbon transition. SBTi has rated our targets as “sufficiently ambitious” to support the level of decarbonization required to limit the global temperature increase to 1.5°C. Our Scope 3 emissions meet the SBTi criteria for “ambitious” value-chain goals and align with current best practice. We also align to the GHG protocol.

Improving energy management.

The direct greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) from our operations arise mostly from electricity usage and from heating and cooling our facilities.

With representatives from workplace services and IT, our ESG Action Committee identifies opportunities to increase the energy efficiency of our labs and data centers. We’re pursuing efficient space utilization at our offices and adopting retrofits or upgrades to reduce energy. When identifying new sites, we prioritize LEED Gold-certified buildings. The purchase of renewable energy certificates (RECs) contributes to increasing our share in renewable energy.

Managing e-waste responsibly.

E-waste is a material issue for Veritas. Developed, approved, and rolled out by our ESG Action Committee, our e-waste policy aims to minimize negative impacts on the environment and promote responsible disposal of electronic devices. It’s designed to ensure that internal stakeholders work with preapproved vendors that meet our e-waste standards.

A designated team oversees our e-waste management practices to ensure the implementation of our policy.
