About event logs
In addition to the system log, each Access Appliance feature has an associated event log. When a problem occurs, one of the quickest ways to learn more about what occurred is to examine these log files. Event logs for Access Appliance features are stored in the /opt/VRTSnas/log
directory.
Note:
You should not delete or alter log files while troubleshooting, as it may hamper further investigation by Veritas Technical Support.
To view the event logs:
- Use SSH to log in to the node using admin privileges.
- Type support elevate and when prompted enter the password for the maintenance account.
- Navigate to the
/opt/VRTSnas/log
directory.Event logs for Access Appliance features are stored in this directory.
For example, the cifs.log contains CIFS event logs.
