Determining the NetBackup Virtual Appliance serial number
The serial number of a virtual appliance is assigned by the AutoSupport servers.
After the initial configuration of an appliance, the serial number is not assigned.

Before you determine the serial number, you need to make sure the following:
CallHome is enabled on your appliance.
The appliance has access to public network either directly or through a proxy to the AutoSupport servers.
When you connect your appliance to public network, AutoSupport detects the appliance through Call Home service and a serial number is assigned to your appliance.
Use the following procedure to determine the serial number of an appliance using the NetBackup Virtual Appliance Shell Menu.
To determine the serial number of an appliance server using the NetBackup Virtual Appliance Shell Menu
- Log on to the administrative NetBackup Virtual Appliance Shell Menu using your login credentials.
- From the Main_Menu> command prompt, type Monitor and press Enter.
The command prompt changes to Monitor>.
- Type the following command: Hardware ShowHealth Appliance Product, and then press Enter.
For example, Monitor> Hardware ShowHealth Appliance Product
The serial number of your appliance appears, as seen in the following example:
