Filtering users based on Entra ID (Azure AD) group membership
When configuring the capture scope, you can limit the backup of specific users for particular workloads. The Azure AD extended attributes can be used to target a specific set of users, meeting the requirements. This connector backs up user data based on a specified attribute and its value, excluding data from other users who do not meet the criteria.
From the Veritas Alta SaaS Protection version 2.20 onwards, you must have an include list; you cannot create only an exclude list. The following is the workaround for the tenant on versions before 2.20 with only an exclude list:
Create a group in Azure AD (Entra ID).
Add all users to this group.
Add this group to the include list.
To filter users based on Entra ID group membership
- On the Group filter section, click Enable this feature.
- Click + Add group filter.
- Do any of the following:
To include groups:
To exclude groups:

Only the data of the users who belong to these groups is backed-up using this connector.
All users' data except those added to this list is backed-up using this connector.
The page displays the added groups and their corresponding actions, which can be included or excluded. You can remove the group from the list using the Remove option.
- Configure the other options on the Capture scope page.
- (Optional) Configure the folder filters to limit the backup scope to specific folders.
See Filtering folders.
