Delete policy for SharePoint environments
You can configure a Delete policy to manage storage by removing unnecessary items from the source SharePoint Online environment while retaining backups in Veritas Alta SaaS Protection.
Before configuring the Delete policy, you must read the SharePoint Delete policy guidelines to understand its implications:
The Delete policy is applied to the following workloads:
SharePoint Online
OneDrive for Business
Teams Site
The Delete policy criteria can be customized based on the
, , and of the items.Define any or all of these criteria according to your specific data retention requirements. When configuring exclusions based on
, you must configure either the last modified date or size criteria. The Delete policy is enforced starting from the second full backup, after all data is successfully backed up during the first full backup.
When you run the second backup, select the
option. The Delete policy applies only to full backups and does not affect incremental backups occurring between two full backups.
If both the Delete and Stub policies target the same item, the Delete policy takes precedence and permanently deletes the item from the source SharePoint environment.
The Delete policy applies to files within user libraries exclusively based on document libraries and not any other library type.
The Delete policy does not apply to the following file type:
ASPX files
