Operational workflow
These are the typical tasks and activities you will perform as part of Veritas Alta SaaS Protection operations, which can be communicated during the on-boarding process:
Tenant deployment
Veritas will set up your tenant and environment within Veritas Alta SaaS Protection to get you started.
AD (Entra ID) synchronization
As the Administrator, your role begins with approving the application created for Active Directory synchronization. You will receive the links for app approval by a welcome email.
AD synchronization step ensures all users and groups from your AD are synchronized with Veritas Alta SaaS Protection, allowing user management and role assignment based on your organization's structure.
See How to enable Active Directory (Entra ID) synchronization.
User role assignment
After AD synchronization, users are initially assigned the Default system role, granting them access to the End-User portal where they can search, share, and perform self-restores for content they have access to.
You will need to assign administrative roles to users who are responsible for managing Veritas Alta SaaS Protection, ensuring that they have the appropriate permissions based on their business role.
Policy creation
You are responsible for creating policies that define how data will be managed within Veritas Alta SaaS Protection. These policies cover backup schedules, retention periods, and more, ensuring that the system aligns with your business and compliance requirements.
Connector creation
You will need to create connectors to integrate Veritas Alta SaaS Protection with your data sources, such as Microsoft 365, Google Drive, and other supported platforms. These connectors facilitate the secure backup of data from these sources into the Veritas Alta SaaS Protection environment.
Data backup
Once your policies and connectors are set up, you can perform data backups. Veritas Alta SaaS Protection securely backs up data from your connected sources according to the defined policies, ensuring that critical data is preserved for future restoration if needed.
Data restore
In the event of data loss, you can initiate a restore process. Veritas Alta SaaS Protection allows administrators and authorized users to restore backed-up data to its original or an alternate location, ensuring business continuity. End users can also perform self-service data restores and share data with others through the End-User portal.
