How to set up the Velocity Storage Server

The Velocity Storage Server can be hosted on one of the following:

A virtual machine in your data center.
The Veritas Velocity physical appliance.

The setup steps are different depending on which hosting method you choose.

How to set up the Velocity Storage Server on the Velocity Appliance

Use the following steps to set up the Velocity Storage Server on the Velocity Appliance:

Steps that are marked as (Recommended) or (Optional) are not required to complete the initial setup of the appliance.

Step 1	Confirm that the appliance hardware is installed correctly and powered on. Refer to the Veritas Velocity 7330 Appliance Hardware Installation Guide.
Step 2	Review the appliance initial configuration requirements. See Velocity Appliance initial configuration requirements.
Step 3 (Recommended)	Change the admin account password. See Changing user passwords on the Velocity physical appliance. Note: New appliances ship with the following default login credentials: User name: `admin` Password: `P@ssw0rd`
Step 5	Run the hardware self-test. See Testing the Velocity physical appliance hardware.
