SYNOPSIS
Configure
DESCRIPTION
This command opens a step-by-step wizard for configuring the Velocity Appliance storage. You need to use this command whenever you initially configure the appliance (physical or virtual). On a physical appliance, the wizard automatically configures the total capacity of the attached storage units. On a virtual appliance, the wizard requires that you select specific virtual disks to fit your storage requirements.
After the storage is configured, the Velocity Storage Server is ready to be registered with the Velocity Cloud Service.
Note:
Once you configure the storage, you can no longer change the appliance host name. To give the appliance a new host name, you need to perform a factory reset (physical appliance) or reinstall the OVA (virtual appliance).
OPTIONS
- Configure
Use to configure Velocity storage.
EXAMPLES
Example 1 - Configuring storage on a physical appliance.
appliance123.Storage> Configure - [Info] Searching for existing storage configurations... >> The appliance is ready to configure the storage. Note, you cannot change the appliance host name (appliance123) after performing this action. Do you want to proceed? [yes, no](no) yes - [Info] Storage configuration has begun. This process can take up to 15 minutes. - [Info] Initializing storage... - [Info] Checking disks... - [Info] Creating new partition: Configuration (this can take up to 5 minutes) - [Info] Creating partition... - [Info] Creating new partition: VPFS Catalog (this can take up to 5 minutes) - [Info] Creating partition... - [Info] Creating new partition: VPFS (this can take up to 5 minutes) - [Info] Creating partition... - [Info] Creating the Velocity Storage Server... - [Info] Adding the VPFS partition to the Velocity Storage Server... - [Info] The appliance storage was configured successfully. appliance123.Storage>
Example 2 - Configuring storage on a virtual appliance.
appliance123.Storage> Configure - [Info] Searching for existing storage configurations... To configure the storage, you must select disks to include in the META and DATA volumes. Type the numbers that correspond to the disks that you want to include in each volume (comma separated). For example: 1,3. Note: The DATA volume must contain at least one disk. If you do not want to add any disks to the META volume, leave the field blank and press Enter to continue. The following disks are available: 1. Virtual Device Node: SCSI(2:0) [214.7 GB] 2. Virtual Device Node: SCSI(0:1) [53.7 GB] 3. Virtual Device Node: SCSI(3:13) [322.1 GB] 4. Virtual Device Node: SCSI(1:2) [107.4 GB] >> Select META disks: 1 >> Select DATA disks: 2,3,4 +-----------------------------------------------+----------------------------------------------+ | DATA | META | +-----------------------------------------------+----------------------------------------------+ | 2. Virtual Device Node: SCSI(0:1) [53.7 GB] | 1. Virtual Device Node: SCSI(2:0) [214.7 GB] | +-----------------------------------------------+----------------------------------------------+ | 3. Virtual Device Node: SCSI(3:13) [322.1 GB] | | +-----------------------------------------------+----------------------------------------------+ | 4.
