About users on the Velocity physical appliance
The Veritas Velocity Appliance is administered and managed using local user accounts. Appliance users are added using the Velocity shell menu, and are different from the user accounts that you use to access the Velocity Cloud Console.
Table: Appliance user accounts
User | Description |
---|---|
admin | The admin account is the default user account on the appliance. You use this account for the initial login and administrative tasks. The admin account has the highest level of permissions and has the right to create and delete appliance local user accounts. Default credentials for the admin account:
|
User (local) | You can create additional user accounts. As a security and auditing best practice, Veritas recommends that you create a separate user account for each person that needs to access the appliance. |
maintenance | The maintenance user is a restricted account that is used by Veritas Technical Support. This account is used specifically to perform maintenance activity or to troubleshoot the appliance. |
root | The root user is a restricted account that is only used by Veritas Technical Support. |
